Logos

I think these ones are probably my favourite out of all the other ones. I think partly because it looks the part and probably is the most appropriate one. The typography is bold and clear. Its very readable also. I know this one is probably also the most similar one to the already existing logo

I had an idea that with this typeface, because the are so heavy in weight, the solidity of it can be used to create images within the individual letters.

This is very modern and clean compared to all the other museum logos I have seen and I really like it. I think it looks good as a typographic logo but I'm not sure that it says ' museum ' really.

May be an art gallery of some other form of museum but I think the lack of serifs really takes away the organic forms within the logos

This is another really 'nice' logo. I think the traditional typography is lovely but again, I dont know how well it would work as a logo for the Nartural History museum.

Thoughts on Logo....

ALL TYPOGRAPHIC? OR PICTORIAL?

Serif?
Sans Serif?
Slab Serif?
Ligatures?

Classic?
Pretty?
Modern?
Bold?
Sturdy?

Do I want an ICON? > pictorial or just letter? or initials? ( NHM)

I definitely want a logo that can be applied to lots of different applications eg.

different categories / sections within the museum like the previous logo
different media eg. 3D, screen, poster, etc

IDEAS for meaning of logo?
  • the main/ landmark exhibit? eg.
  • big dinosaur
  • the blue whale
  • the massive sequoia
  • the big antlers
  • the buildings' gargoyles
  • Darwin
  • monkey/ape ( evolution
  • the vault
  • the building itself ( the architecture of it)
  • the history of the museum
  • the foundeers
  • the different coloured zones ? eg. orange, blue, green, red....use the colours in the logo?

REFINING LOGO

Variations of Century Gothics which is the type that the 'a' in the icon is based on
experimenting jus using the counter feather of the logo as the actual logo
different sans serif fonts.

I'm triyng to find the perfect sans serif font to go with the logo.

considerations :

-friendly
-modern and clean ( eg. sans serif)
-single storey 'a's ( same as the logo)
-not too cooperate
-goes with the logo

Logo Colours

plan a logo

The white lines are now more refined. the second logo with the turned leaves now actually look more like 'turned leaves'

I think the problem before with the logo not looking right were that i white lines that separate each elements of the 'leaves' are too parallel. I've changed the consistency of the white of the white lines and now it looks much better

type logo

A leaf

working on the logos

rough idea, obviously, if we choose to use this logo

the vector needs to be refined and colour needs to be chosen properly but this is jus a rough idea of what this one would look like if we did use it.

logo set 1

This is the first set of my logo design.

the main theme for this one is squares

The reason being for why I chose to use a square is to show symmetry, balance, simplicity and at the same time solidity. I also wanted to use a geometric shape

The message I'm trying to convey is that sustainability is a kind of balance that we need to have between us and the environment.

"nothing in Nature is wasted- it is only humans who create waste."

  • geometry is one of the purest forms of nature
  • the square is solid, strong and sturdy
  • form follows function

Design.....

  • solid colour or not?
  • where will the type go
  • how does the image work with the type
  • ink coverage....try use as little ink as possible?
  • negative space
  • which font to use that is most appropriate?
