extend : scrabble

extend : scrabble tiles from Praefa Uennatornwaranggoon on Vimeo.

I think I'm going to use as one of my final videos. Its a little different from all the others ones.

I created the whole of the 'scrabble board' on illustrator and then imported them onto after effects. I used masks to create the effect where individual scrabble tile appears. The technique was quite simple : just key framing the individual masks

I didn't want to just use black and white for this animation as I want it to resemble a scrabble tiles as much as possible.
I thought about adding grids and points etc but I that might make the animation a bit too complicated ( not the process as it would just be a still image, but the aesthetics of it)

The san serif and upper case type, obviously like the original scrabble tiles

This animation is an alteration/ development from the previous video. however, I think I like the other one better. It had more of an entrance and an end to the video than this one.

Disperse

Disperse from Praefa Uennatornwaranggoon on Vimeo.

This is done by using the path tool(divide) in illustrator to turn text (outlines) into different fragments. Then putting the different fragments into different layers and then transforming their positions on After Effects.....

there's probably a plugin or an effect for this and it probably only takes a second but i did all this manually and it did take quite a while but I learnt a few things so I guess it was worth it?

Experimental 3D Click

I wanted to animate some 3-dimensional type on After Effects and found that it was pretty hard. I could import 3d looking type from illustrator but I couldn't animate it or alter the actual 3D type. So, I looked up some techniques and you can actually animate 3 dimensional type using the 'shatter' effect.

apply the effect to a solid colour and use the 'custom' shape which is the type layer. and stop the effects from actually occuring but you can alter the extrusion depth of the type

Extend: First Round

These are some of the story boards I made during snow day (s)

I realized now after Fred's credit card sessions that these are probably wrong but here they are anyway. I found it quite hard to get some of the ideas across and some of these story boards, the images just arent even there and its jus me annotating what will actually happen.

I think the best example is with the dispersed one. for one of them, in the last three boxes....no images. I think that was definitely sillyness on my part not being to put my idea across using visuals.....

and im meant to be a Graphic designer....

o dear
